the figures of the "monarch" and "rural maid" rendered, along with trees and grass, in silk stitches on a white silk ground; the flock of sheep, at left in wool French Knots; all within the original black glass églomisé mat inscribed Wrought by Sally Bent, At Mrs. Saunders and Miss Beach's Academy Dorchester. 1804; in the original giltwood and gesso frame.

With some exfoliation to black-painted areas; retains original wood backing with a postal label for Mrs. C. Fred Hartshorn, 27 West St. Walpole, Massachusetts.
