Painted with a cottage scene depicting a milkmaid milking a cow and another figure near a river below a bridge, all above the inscription Mary Brown / 1781 between beaded borders, affixed with an entwined strap handle.

Condition
There is an extensive haircrack forking upwards and running to the belly of the cow and sideways running parallel to the footrim, across the base and up the footrim on the other side; and an associated large shallow rim chip under the foot. There is some very minor and occasional flaking to the green enamels and very minor abrasions to the rim edge and edge of the handle.
