- 29 3/4 by 39 7/8 in.; 75.6 by 101.3 cm.
Provenance
R.H. Hewins Collection, Northamptanshire (according to a label on the reverse).
Condition
The canvas appears to be lined. Overall the image reads well. There is some slight craquelure throughout, most prominent on the darker colors on the trees. There are two minor, very tiny, spots of paint loss on the upper right quadrant. Inspection under UV shows scattered small spots of retouches along the left edge and throughout the foreground. Further retouching is difficult to read due to a milky varnish, but areas of retouching appear to be in the sky, possibly addressing older craquelure. The white building to the right also appears to have some strokes of retouching, which are visible to the naked eye. The painting is offered in an elaborately carved, gilded, wood frame.
