Description
- Circle of Thomas Spencer
- A country squire on a bay horse
- oil on canvas
- 22 3/4 by 27 1/2 in.; 56.5 by 69.9 cm.
Condition
The canvas is lined and appears slightly pressed as a result. There is some thinness to the paint, most noticeably in the background, but overall the central figures read well. There is some craquelure, but nothing too distracting. A thin, ribbed line appears horizontally on the horse's body, quite possibly due to an old seam. Scattered retouches under UV light appear on the background, the central figure riding the horse, and the horse's legs. The painting is offered in a carved wood frame.
