the center with a gilt Persian inscription and date encircled by a diaper border within alternating panels of birds among flowers and figures, reserved on a blue floral ground, with two further narrow diaper borders at the rim.

Condition

In overall good condition. Minor flaking to the enamels in the central panels. Some minor rubbing to the gilding.

The center inscription reads: Commissioned by His Excellency, the Auspicious, the most Glorious, the Most high, the Most noble, the Eminent Sultan Mas’ud Mirza Yamin al-Dawla Zill al-Sultan’and is dated 1297 AH (1879-80 AD).
