  • Pair of Portraits: Mr. Abraham Ackerman (b. February 15, 1753) and his Wife Susan (b. November 2, 1753)
  • Pastel, charcoal and chalk on paper
  • 26 by 21 3/4 in.
Mr. Ackerman has a small housefly painted on his vest and Mrs. Ackerman has a small ant painted on her shawl collar.

Condition

Mr. Ackerman's portrait has abrasions, repaired tears in his forehead and losses in the upper left and right corners. Mrs. Ackerman's portrait has some losses around the edges of the pastel and several repairs in he bonnet. The reverse of Mrs. Ackerman's pastel has a piece of 19th century newspaper affixed to the surface. Both in modern frames.
