Catalogue Note

With its distinctive mummy-head supports this sideboard relates directly to those produced in Baltimore by Edward Priestley (1778-1834). A closely related pier table and sideboard is attributed to Priestley by Alexandra Alevizatos Kirtley in “A New Subject: Baltimore Cabinet Maker Edward Priestley,” American Furniture edited by Luke Beckerdite, (Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Chipstone Foundation, 2000), p. 100, 122, figs. 1, 23.
