Condition
Overall very good condition. When viewed firsthand the shade displays an artistic glass selection comprised of soft yellow and green laburnum petals against a rich blue background. The shade with approximately 25-30 hairline cracks dispersed throughout which have been recently stabilized by a professional glass conservator. This is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles which were required to execute this complex and monumental shade. The shade with some extremely light surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The shade with approximately 8 tiles which appear to have been reset and stabilized at some point in the history of the piece. The leadwork with rubbing to the gilding. The "Tree" base is in very good condition and displays a bright gilt patina with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, rubbing, and light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. With a later replaced base switch. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a period "Pigtail" finial in very good condition with light wear, minor oxidation and a shallow bruise to the outer perimeter. A stunning example of this wonderfully dynamic and naturalistic lamp model.
