  • diamonds, gold, enamel, glass
  • 8.3 cm., 3 1/4 in. wide
oval, the lid applied with an earlier miniature, enamel under glass, of a gentleman, wearing a full-bottomed wig, orange-lined purple robe and lacy cravat, German school, rose diamond frame, within a border of coloured gold paillon vine tendrils on a ground of rich violet enamel over engine-turning in a moirĂ© pattern within pale blue enamel and paillon leaf borders, the edges, thumbpiece and side dividers chased with fruits and flowers between laurel, traces of marks on lid and base, the rim with Hanau shell for 18ct gold

Would benefit from professional cleaning of gold; chip on left enamel panel; scratches to miniature consistent with agel; join in back visible on interior.
