Description

  • 20.8cm., 8 1/8 in. high
of cylindrical form, decorated with spiral threads in opaque-white, with an engrailed band at the foot,

Condition

In overall good appearance and condition. To the underside there is a shallow bruise chip close to the pontil, probably associated with production. The opaque-white stripes with some scattered bubbling. A small patch of fritting to the interior base.

Catalogue Note

A beaker of very similar form was in the Guépin collection, sold at Christie's Amsterdam, 5th July 1981, lot 17. An example affixed on a spreading foot decorated with vetro a retorti from the Wunsch foundation was sold at Christie's London, 6th December 2012, lot 137.
