Château d'Yquem 1990 Sauternes, 1er Grand Cru ClasséLot 8360: In original tissues, excellent appearance, Lot 8361: u. 5bn, 1vts, Lot 8362: u. 7bn, 2 bottles signs of old seepageAt sweet sixteen, and from Jeroboam, this was totally 'on song', luscious, all-enveloping and super-opulent. Then there was a Double Magnum, with its incredible nose of peaches with a taste of peach kernels, and I wondered if the large formats are even better than the bottles in 1990. This was until my last bottle in 2011, which had such finesse in spite of a bouquet almost enveloped in sugar and a fantastic fruit bowl flavour. There are echoes of 1929 here.
