This work is in original unlined condition. The surface is in good condition overall. There is frame abrasion with an associated area of minor loss in the grass at the right lower edge. Remnants of the gold mat have rubbed off on the canvas in places along the upper edge and in the lower right corner. Under UV: there are some minor retouches visible on and around the figures in the foreground, most notably in the left figure's proper right arm, in the hat at lower left, and the grasses behind the figure at lower right. Additional minor scattered retouches are visible in the sky and the sea at right.
