Lined. There is craquelure throughout the picture surface that is most noticeable in the sky. Under UV: old green varnish fluoresces unevenly. In the sky there are broad, diagonal lines of inpainting scattered throughout the lower half of the sky; and there is retouching visible in one broad, brushy area approximately 5 inches wide at upper center; in smaller areas along the extreme upper edge and in the right half of the sky; and as pinpoint dots scattered throughout. Finely painted pinpoint dots and lines of retouching are visible on the central black and brown horses and on and around the chickens.
