There is minor scattered frame abrasion at the left and upper extreme edges, with some associated minor loss. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green. A large, vertical area of broad, brushy retouching is visible in the background at upper right. There are dashes, dots and small areas of retouching scattered throughout the composition, with concentrated areas on the man's face and cravat and the woman's chest. There is additional strengthening to the patterns on the figures' costumes. Inpainting to address prior frame abrasion is scattered along the edges, with a concentrated area along the upper edge.
