Condition
Oil on paper laid down on an irregularly shaped board. The edges are roughly cut. The support was at one time a rectangle; both upper corners have been cut at an angle to form a trapezoid. Artist pinholes are visible at the lower corners. The varnish has discolored and there is a hazy area of varnish along the top and upper right edges. Minor surface dirt. Frame abrasion along the left edge. Under UV: an old green varnish covers the picture surface, though a few minor dots and dashes of retouching are visible in the man's beard and in the background in the upper part of the composition.
