Condition
Oil on stable panel. The surface is clean and stable, aside from abrasions with associated minor losses visible at all four edges. There are extremely minor nicks and losses to the extreme edges of the panel visible when the work is unframed. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly and it largely obscures the picture surface in the lower left quadrant. In the blue sky in the upper right quadrant there is extensive old, brushy retouching visible. There is a horizontal line of retouching extending from the tree trunk near the horizon line and broad retouching along the central part of the horizon. Additionally, there are a few pinpoint dots, dashes, and small areas of retouching scattered on and around the lower part of the tree trunk; in the sky between and around the branches at upper left; and also scattered along the left edge.
