Description

  • A shepherd and his companion in a wooded landscape
  • oil on canvas
  • 36 by 48 in.; 91.5 by 122 cm.

Condition

Canvas is lined and the paint surface appears pressed as a result. A decorative landscape presents well. Some discoloration is visible, like for example in the sky along the right upper edge. Faint frame abrasions are along edges. On the top left corner there is some minor buckling that is barely visible or distracting. Inspection under UV shows a few retouches scattered along the foreground and sky, with a more concentrated area at right on the cloud which has become visible to the naked eye. Other areas of retouching that fluoresce are along the edges. Painting is offered in a gilded wood frame with some decoration on its liner.
