The canvas is lined. The painting presents a strong image beneath an old varnish. It is stable on its stretcher. Stretcher bar marks are faintly visible along all edges and vertically through the center, though these are not distracting. Scattered losses along the edges, for example on the center at top edge. Inspection under UV reveals a varnish that fluoresces unevenly, though there may be some scattered fine lines of retouching in the costumes of the figures, in the shadows of the horses, for example on the front leg of the far right horse, and in the sky at center and along the center of upper edge to address the aforementioned losses. UV also reveals a small repair in the lower right quadrant beneath the horse. The painting can hung in its present state. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame.
