Condition

Oil on cradled panel. The cradle has been coated with a heavy layer of wax. There are four visible vertical panel cracks extending from the top edge and three visible vertical panel cracks extending from the lower edge. The surface is in overall good condition aside from surface dirt and minor abrasions at the extreme edges. Pigment separation is visible in the reds of the central figure's dress. Under UV light, the majority of the work is covered in a green fluorescing varnish that obscures the surface. There is both older and newer retouching visible around the previously mentioned panel cracks. Additional retouching at the extreme edges, especially the lower right corner, to address abrasion. Some small scattered touches of repaint are visible in the faces and chest's of the figures.
