Catalogue Note

These paintings are based on prints by the Comte de Caylus which are after two red chalk drawings by Edme Bouchardon.  The Bouchardon drawings are from an album known as ‘Le Cris de Paris’  (inv. no. 1857,0613.733) now in the British Museum, London.
