  • oil on canvas

Condition

The painting appears to be lined. The painting presents a decorative image underneath a dirty varnish. Some of the darker brown hues have lost some definition, and some areas on the sky and background are slightly thinned. An area of frame abrasion is visible on the center of the right edge and on the lower left corner. Inspection under UV reveals some old filled repairs in the background above the buildings at left, in the mountains at right, through the trees at right, and on the foreground at lower right. Scattered retouches are here and there. The varnish fluoresces unevenly in areas under UV light. The painting is offered in a gilded wood frame with some minor losses on the bottom left and top right corners.
