Condition
The canvas is wax lined. The painting presents a decorative image with a detailed landscape. There is some thinning on the brown hues, but overall the image reads well. The varnish on the painting is glossy. Inspection under UV shows some small spots of retouching scattered here and there, but further is impeded by the strong varnish under which there may be some old retouching. There may be an old repair in the center of the tree at left, in the tree on the upper edge left of center, and in the foliage about 4 in. down from the center of the upper edge. The painting could be hung as is. It is offered in an elaborately carved, gilded wood frame.
