The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. There is some scuffing at right and left edges (probably caused by rubbing of a former frame). The paint surface has been generally well preserved and there is nice retention of detail in the figures and animals. Some slight thinness is noticeable in the background foliage. Examination under UV light: the varnish fluoresces unevenly, probably due to selective cleaning. There appears to be retouching throughout the sky; other smaller retouches can be seen on the figures and animals, and some in foreground landscape.
