Description
Designed as a dog, the muzzle set with single-cut diamonds, to cabochon sapphire eyes, the head and body applied with red and black enamel, Italian maker's marks.
Condition
Plaque indistinctly stamped FC for Frascarolo to reverse of brooch. Second plaque stamped 'Made in Italy'. Additionally stamped 750 for 18 carat gold and with Italian maker's mark 347 AL. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated clarity approximately SI as graded within the limitations of the mount, colour difficult to gauge due to mount. Enamel in general good condition, some light wear and surface scratches, one fracture to tail. Sapphires mid blue, numerous eye visible inclusions, some are surface reaching. Sapphires with fractures, chips and scratches. Brooch fitting closes securely. Surface scratches and minor areas of discolouration to metal surfaces. Gross weight approximately 48.6 grams.
