ENAMEL AND DIAMOND PENDANT, JEAN DAMPT, RETAILED BY CARTIER, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Description

Designed as a reliquary, the case applied with blue guillochĂ© enamel, detailed with a crescent moon, scrolled borders, suspension loop and cross-shaped push-piece, all set with rose diamonds, opening to reveal the miniature figure of Saint Anthony of Padua, inside case applied with turquoise enamel and golden star motifs, base of figure signed J. Dampt, French assay and maker's mark, fitted case stamped Cartier. Condition

Signed J. Dampt to base of figure. Stamped with maker's mark EC and French assay marks for 18 carat gold on side of figure. Diamonds bright and lively. Scratches to enamel consistent with age and wear, there is a chip to base on one corner. One star motif deficient to inside of lid, appears to have been re-enamelled. Hinges in good working order. Lid closes securely. Push piece in good working order. Scratches and areas of minor discolouration to metal surfaces. Overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 21 grams.
