SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING

Description

Millegrain-set with a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 8.50 carats, to a mount pavé- and collet-set with brilliant- and single-cut diamonds, size I1/2, French import assay marks.

Condition

Accompanied by report no. 11681 from the Gem & Pearl Laboratory, stating that the sapphire measuring approximately 12 x 10 x 7.6mm is of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin, with no indications of heat treatment. Shank stamped with French import assay marks for 18 carat gold and platinum. Sapphire mid violet-blue, transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification. Pavilion facets asymmetrical, culet noticeably to one side. Some areas of very minor wear and chipping to facet edges. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.20 - 1.40 carats. Light scratches to surfaces consistent with wear, overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 8.1 grams.
