ENAMEL, DIAMOND AND IVORY DESK TIMEPIECE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Description

The circular dial of white enamel decorated with a painted laurel wreath, with Arabic numeral indicators and rose diamond hands, within a purple guilloché enamel bezel, the reverse of ivory, with hinged strut, diameter approximately 79mm, signed Cartier to dial and reverse, movement unsigned, French assay and maker's marks.

Condition

Dial signed Cartier, ivory on reverse signed Cartier, maker's mark and French assay mark stamped on bezel, bail with maker's mark and French assay mark indicating 18 carat gold. Dial in good condition, some light surface scratches to glass cover, rose diamonds set on hands are bright, with some small chips. Some fine scratches to enamel. Metal with signs of discolouration and tarnish commensurate with age, some dents and surface scratches. Ivory to reverse is damaged, split in various areas and small chips and scratches. Movement unsigned. Overall condition commensurate with age and wear.
