Description

Of rectangular form with rounded corners, the lid set with an elephant carved in aventurine quartz, the exterior applied with black and cinnabar lacquer, opening to reveal a plain wood-lined interior, measuring approximately 168 x 90 x 68mm, signed Cartier, numbered.

Condition

Lip of box signed Cartier, stamped sterling, numbered 7269. Aventurine green, opaque, carving in good condition, possibly one minor chip to one ear polished out. Lacquer in good condition. Wood lining of box intact, in good condition, some light staining. Areas of tarnish to metal, particularly to underside of lid and box. Light scratches to surfaces consistent with wear, particularly on underside of feet. Box closing securely, lid with good alignment, closing flush. Overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 388 grams.
