Description

Designed as a fruiting branch, the leaves set with circular-cut diamonds, the flower composed of a natural pearl measuring approximately 24.95 x 17.31 x 12.71mm, adorned with a caterpillar set with circular-cut demantoid garnets, the base with a pendant fitting, signed Marcus & Co.

Condition

Accompanied by GIA report no. 2185829488, stating that the pearl is natural, saltwater, measuring approximately 24.95 x 17.31 x 12.71mm, weighing 31.39 carats, reverse with two surface openings filled with foreign material, the shape, surface and luster with evidence of modification. Signed Marcus & Co to reverse. Pearl of white body colour with pink, green and yellow overtones, good lustre, areas of pitting and unevenness to nacre surface, reverse with duller lustre and small areas of black discolouration. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.80 - 2.10 carats. Demantoid garnets green, transparent, some with minor chips visible under magnification. Brooch fitting possibly later, with small areas of solder visible at join to body, in good working order, closing securely. Pendant fitting hinged, not aligned, not closing securely, would benefit from a jeweller's attention. Scratches to surfaces consistent with wear. Overall in good condition. Overall dimensions approximately 45 x 36mm, gross weight approximately 19 grams.
