Toscanini gave many early, celebrated performances of Verdi’s last masterpiece Falstaff. The composer’s famous telegram of thanks to Toscanini (“Grazie, grazie, grazie”) was cherished by the conductor. It was sold in these rooms in London, 28 November 2012, lot 79a.
