Catalogue Note

Giulia Grisi was one of the most important dramatic sopranos of the first half of the nineteenth century. Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti all created roles for her. At this stage in her career she lived with her husband in Florence, where the recipients lived. Signora Capezzuoli is the wife of Rossini’s Florentine attorney, who later in 1864 sold a villa in the city on Rossini’s behalf.
