Catalogue Note

This collection comprises illustrations for L.T. Meade's 'Voices Out of the Past' and 'The Torch-Bearers' published in The Sunday Strand magazine in 1901 and 1902. The series presented stories of the "heroes and heroines of the Bible". Stories, represented here, include those of David, Gideon, Samuel, Solomon, Joshua, Moses, Naomi, Esther, Daniel, Elijah and Saul.
