Carcharodon (meaning ‘sharpened tooth’) megalodon ( ‘large tooth’) -  was a shark that settled in oceans 16 million years ago and went extinct approx. 2 million years ago. It is considered to be the most fearsome superpredator fish of all time, and possibly the largest and most terrifying carnivore that ever lived.
