a triptych of mural-sized chromogenic prints, each Diasec-mounted, an Artcore (Fabrice Marcolini), Toronto, label on the reverse, 2004, no. 2 in an edition of 6 (3)
Provenance
Christie's New York, 27 September 2016, Sale 13394, Lot 589
Condition
This impressive triptych of mural-sized chromogenic prints depicting a quintessential Vitali beach scene delivers tremendous detail. The saturation appears slightly stronger in the left and right panels, with vibrant colorations of blue and yellow in the umbrellas, in the multi-colored towels, and in the shaded figures. The upper portion of each of the 3 panels is somewhat lighter in tonality. As frequently seen in other comparable Diasec-mounted works when examined closely in raking light, the following are visible on the acrylic surface: scattered scratches and faint scuffs; swipes; and soiling. On the right panel are a few tiny dark deposits of indeterminate nature also on the acrylic surface, mostly in the right portion of the image/margin. There is an area of soiling (possibly adhesive residue) in the upper right margin of the left panel.
