Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. The colors are bright and fresh. The scattered signs of wear, such as scratches and paint losses, are inherent to the nature of the found materials and the artist's process. The rivets securing the work are slightly loose but the work remains stable.

Catalogue Note

“These earlier sculptures are the end product of a process in which formerly elegant cars, now turned to junk, are again transformed by the artist into the ‘elegance’ of sculptural high-art objects.” Dan Graham, Exh. Cat., New York, Gagosian Gallery, John Chamberlain: New Sculpture, 2011, p. 139
