Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The sheet is window matted and hinged intermittently along the reverse to the backing board. The left vertical edge of the sheet is folded over and wrapped underneath the sheet. There is a slight undulation to the sheet. There are handling marks to the edges of the sheet, not visible when matted. There is a small pinpoint accretion in the upper right quadrant. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

Dommenick Turturro is known for his all-over patterned paintings. Although his style is gestural, he also incorporates forms. The positive and negative forms help to create a dynamic quality to the work. The artist attended Cooper Union and the Pratt Institute. His work has featured in many collections, including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Witherspoon Museum, North Carolina.
