Catalogue Note

Born in Massachusetts, Howard Kanovitz graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, and went on to apprentice with Franz Kline in New York, where he was exposed to the Abstract Expressionist scene. From this movement, Kanovitz evolved to embrace Photorealism, hyper-realistic depictions of figures, some of which were well-known in the art world, athletes and landscapes. His work has been featured internationally, including the Jewish Museum, New York, the Jollenbeck Gallery, Cologne, and the Marlborough Gallery, New York.
