Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The collage is window matted and completely adhered to the backing board. There is a faint surface layer of dust, visible upon close inspection. There is scattered adhesive residue, primarily visible when unmatted. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

Known for his photographic collages, John O’Reilly received his BFA from Syracuse University, and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The artist gained recognition when he was invited to participate in the 1995 Whitney Biennial. There is a surreal dimension to his work as he juxtaposes family photographs, reproductions of Old Masters and pornography. He has held exhibitions at many prestigious institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
