Yseult and Tanguy Riopelle, Jean-Paul Riopelle Catalogue Raisonné Tome 3 1966-1971, Montreal, 2014, p. 224, cat. no. 051H (illustrated)
"The painting has to be done, I never say to myself, for example, that I have to paint like this or that way to get any effect…There is always a solution to improve a painting that does not work. But that does not interest me. It loses its emotional unity because the technique will always prevail, unfortunately.”
This work is in very good condition overall. Minor craquelures are observed to be scattered throughout thickly painted areas which is consistent with artist's application of chosen medium. No evidence of retouching is observed when examined under ultraviolet light. Framed.
