Condition

This work has been restored and should be and should be hung in its current state. Due to the artist's chosen technique, these works tend to exhibit instability, and in this case, small intermittent paint losses have occurred throughout the composition. The losses have been carefully and successfully retouched, and the retouches are visible under ultraviolet light. Overall, some colors have remained stable, such as the colors in the cross and the mottled red and ochre triangle in the lower right. There are no signs that the paint layer will continue to be unstable, but it is recommended that the work be carefully handled. Catalogue Note

"Pedro Coronel represents a source of inexhaustible inspiration; his many themes and ideas come from a world that is a mixture between popular imagination and a sense of fecundity, those vibrations that come from pure color and with a sense towards the monumental are obviously extracted by his awareness of ancient art...His compositions, filled with suggestive and dynamic shapes, sometimes original volcanic forms that lead the viewer to spiritual subjectivity." Alfonso de Neuvillate, Pintura Actual México , 1966, p. 15
