The sculpture is in good condition. It displays a mottled patina that is consistent with the artist's early works, which exhibits gentle wear. Scratches were noted on the back and the proper right haunch of the dog as well as a 6" scratch running down its back. Fine hairline scratches were noted throughout the surface. Several very small areas of patina loss can be seen on the proper right front leg. The nose appears rubbed with small areas of patina loss. Surface irregularities that include faint tooling marks and porosity are inherent to the cast. Extra holes are evident adjacent to the four whiskers intended by the artist.
