Condition

These works are in very good and sound condition overall. Please note that the exhibited bases are not part of the work. Tom MacKay leans slightly forward. Tom MacKay: Recto: There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges especially at the base of the work. There is a minor loss at the subject's left hip. There are several minor scratches, inherent to the artists chosen medium, most notably running diagonally down from the subject's forehead to left eye and in the middle of his right leg. There are two minor losses on the subject's lower right leg, approximately 8 in. from the bottom. Verso: There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges especially at the base of the work. There are three very minor and unobtrusive spot accretions halfway down the subject's coat along the right edge. Margaret MacKay: Recto: There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges especially at the base of the work. There is a minor loss at the edge near the subject's right hip. There are several minor scratches, inherent to the artists chosen medium. There are scattered clear drip accretions predominantly in the lower half of the work, likely from the time of execution. Verso: There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges especially at the base of the work. There is a brown drip accretion at the center of the subject's head. There are scattered light brown accretions in the lower half of the work as well as more aforementioned clear drip accretions.
