Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is an undulation to the sheet, inherent to the artist’s working method and chosen media. There are multiple artist's pinholes in each corner and along the right edge towards the bottom. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. The sheet is hinged verso to the mat along the top edge. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

"I had used those shapes occasionally, but...never confronted them directly. I used them this time because I wanted some sort of image that would hold its presence. An image that I could manipulate, and...it's more complicated than that...You see, I knew that those shapes had emotional charge for me, but I didn't expect that charge to last as long as it did." Richard Diebenkorn
