Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. The colors are vibrant, and the media layer and all cowrie shell elements are stable. A few pinpoint spots of pigment loss are present on the surface of the fabric cord elements that form the feathers of the bird, as well as on the beak of the bird and on the base of the work. Minor debris is present on the green base of the work. Nine fine vertical lines of craquelure each measuring less than one inch in length are present in the blue pigment on canvas where the base of the canvas meets the upright metal element. However, the pigment is stable.
