Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter in the original and the stone base has fewer yellow undertones. The catalogue illustration also fails to fully convey the reflective nature of the aluminium. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals some shallow surface scratches and short rub marks in isolated places to the plexiglass. Further close inspection reveals a few media accretions scattered throughout, and some glue residue towards the lower edge of the plexiglass. Some media accretions have deposited on the bottom inside the plexiglass, and there is wear along the edges of the stone base.

Catalogue Note

"Mack’s works have transcendental, meditative effect on the viewer, engulfing him or her in a timeless sea of light, colour and rhythm that requires no explanation but rather time to experience each piece” (Elizabeth Clark cited in: Exh. Cat., Ben Brown Fine Arts, Hong Kong, Heinz Mack: Colour, Light, Rhythm, 2011, p. 3).
