Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the resin in the centre is deeper and richer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good and original condition. There are artists pinholes in places and the bottom edge of each sheet is deckled. The work undulates slightly, which is in keeping with the artist's working process. All surface irregularities are also in keeping with the artist's working process. Close inspection reveals some rub marks in places to the artist's frame. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
"In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Catalogue Note

“Incorporating antique Masonic banners and cryptic text, the thickly encrusted oil and gesso paintings take on the nature of missives. They are like love letters written in richly emphatic strokes of paint. Embracing a history of oil painting, their highly ornamented frames give them the sense of overgrown easel paintings” (Press Release, Pace Gallery, London, Julian Schnabel: Boni Lux, March 1994, online).
