Description

  • 249cm. 8ft. 2in. high overall
12-inch dial with Indian mask and scroll spandrels, signed Francis Robinson, in the Temple, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, ringed winding holes, the movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, rack striking on a bell, the associated and restored case with domed cresting and ball and spire finials, replaced door pilasters, the rectangular trunk door inset with a lentical and inlaid with vases of flowers inhabited by birds, the similarly inlaid plinth on a later base

Condition

Dial in good clean condition. Movement is complete and appears to retain the original wheel work throughout but is much in need of a clean and service, seat board replaced. Case is later associated and has been restored, finials and their holders are later, hood pilasters possibly later, fret replaced, trunk marquetry in generally good condition, base to plinth is later. With Pendulum and two associated weights but no winder or case key.
