Condition

The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. There are the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. The bout de pied: The fabric is slightly yellowish with some stains. There are many rubbed areas to the painting and many chips to the feet. There are some restorations to one foot. The ends of the feet are damaged. There is one restored crack to the centre of the seatrail. The painting and the gilding are later. The seatrail has been reinforced with wooden blocks. The bergère : The fabric is yellowish with some stains. The painting and gilt areas are very rubbed, revealing the white gesso and the wood underneath. The seatrail has been reinforced with wooden blocks. There are some restored cracks to the assembling of the backrest, which would benefit from a new restoration. The painting and the gilding are later. One back foot of the bergère is naturally inclined.
