Condition

The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. The mobilier de salon has been stripped out, then redecorated and partly regilt. 4 armchairs and 1 bergère are made of white repainted wood and upholstered in grey silk (not illustrated in the printed catalogue. Please see the online catalogue). 4 armchairs, 6 chairs and 1 sofa are grey lacquered and partly giltwood upholstered in a green silk. As stated in the catalogue the sofa is not period and later (probably late 20th cent. to complete the set). The seatrail of each armchair and chair had been previously reinforced with wooden blocks or a metal element. They are partly repeged. The front foot of one armchair is restored. The silk is in overall good condition, with some minute stains and wear to the velvet of the sofa. The constructions are solid, firm and sound. Attractive set in fairly good condition by one of the well known menuisier under Louis XVI reign.
