Description
- Eagle with spread wings
- 68 x 140 cm ; 26 3/4 x 55 in.
carved and gilt wood
Condition
In overall good condition with surface dirt and wear to the gilding, notably to the claws, consistent with age and handling. The back is not carved and the two wings have been carved separately. A few splits are visible in some places consistent with the material. The gilding could be a later addition. This eagle was probably an element of a lectern. Impressive carving of the feather.
